AN IP PRACTICE
INSIDE A LAW FIRM

Equity is the intellectual property arm of Abdeen & Co Advocates and Legal
Consultants, working from the United Arab Emirates and Khartoum.

REGISTRATION AND DISPUTE, ONE ROOF

Most IP agencies stop at the registration certificate. When a mark is opposed, copied or attacked for non-use, the client is sent off to find litigation counsel who has never seen the file.

We are built the other way round. The prosecution team sits inside a law firm, so the file moves from filing to enforcement without changing hands, and the argument made at examination is the argument made in court.

The aim is plain: to be the firm Gulf and international counsel think of first when a matter reaches Africa, and the firm African rights holders trust when their brand travels out.

HEAD CLIENT DESK

Where instructions arrive, scope and price are agreed, and reporting goes out. Gulf and international rights holders deal with this desk and nothing else.

THE AFRICA GATE · FILING AND PROSECUTION

The registry office. Sudan sits inside both ARIPO
and the Madrid Protocol, so this is the desk that
opens the continent — every regional and
international filing routes through here.

BRANCH · CUSTOMS AND ENFORCEMENT

Counterfeits arrive by sea. A desk at the country’s main port keeps customs recordals live and puts us on the ground when a shipment has to be stopped.
